The Kings' Bel-Air place, which sits on two acres, took five years to complete and, according to the listing, "no expense was spared." Of course it wasn't spared; it's being passed on! Truth is, this was pretty much a rebuild and not a remodel -- which is kind of a shame since it's one of those rare old Hollywood homes with some history.
It was built in 1938 for Fanny Brice, the controversial comedienne and actress. Later it was owned by music mogul Jerry Moss, and then later still by Oscar-winning producer Alan Ladd Jr.
The Kings bought it in 2001 for $15 million and intended, as they told Architectural Digest, to do a "minor interior renovation." New York-based Ferguson & Shamamian Architects were hired and the rest, as they say, is history -- literally. Only the foundation, the front façade and the staircase in the entry hall remain from the original.
The two-story home has eight bathrooms, 14 bathrooms and lots of bells and whistles that we'd love to show you but the Kings don't want snoopy people like us to see the home's interiors (unless we fork over some bucks for a copy of the July 2011 Architectural Digest).
